About
Overview
This is a digital scrapbook, compiled from my family history notes and stories, not just Carver but also Allen, Hubbard, Parks, McMillan, McGuffin, Olson, Moen (Hanson), some Careys, and other side lines. I'm starting with Carver, though, and working my way around the family from there.
Target Audience:
Family
No Trees
The thing with trees is that sometimes the stories can get lost behind all the facts. So while I like them, they aren't my focus here.
Best Ways to Navigate
I don't know how some names were spelled. When they are spelled differently in different places, I try to make note, examples: Loisa/Loiza, Dor/Dorr/Door, Jeanette/Jennette/Jenet/Janet. The spelling I use is the spelling I think is correct, based either on how often a name was spelled a particular way in a document or on who spelled it which way. (For instance, Dad's spelling is more likely to be correct than Grandpa's.)
Commitment
My posting is sporadic, and I get to things when I get to them, which can be really frustrating for relatives. If you see something here that syncs with your research, check in and see if I have more info. If you asked for something years ago and got nothing, try again, quick. You have a window here, where I'm older, more reliable, not yet senile.
Copyright
If you want to copy or share things from this website: Please respect the Creative Commons Share-Alike restrictions posted here: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
When I speak of copyright, I'm talking about words I have written or photos I own. I'm not talking about census records or death certificates or other documents that are in the public domain. Please ask me before sharing photos, though, because they can get a little stickier.
My Privacy
I gave mine up long ago before I understood the ramifications, that nothing you say online will ever go away, and that posting your family tree online will cause it to be copied to every corner of the virtual world. Then I wrote a book, and anything you didn't know about me before, you found out in the book. So my cover is blown and I am resigned, but there still might be hope for you.

Non-existant in this space. If I link to anything, it's just to get you to that link. There might be something to buy at the other end of the link, but I won't get any affiliate money if you buy it.

Best Ways to Navigate
- Search for a specific person, place, or thing using the search box in the upper right corner.
- Use the table of contents for a specific family. (IE "Carver Table of Contents".) This will feel a little more like a website instead of a blog.
- Look for Categories along the right side of the screen (SourceDocs, Carver, Carey, etc).
- When an existing blog post is updated, I'll mark it in the TOC as well as mentioning it on the What's New page.

- Certain photos were taken by professional photographers. According to my understanding, I can share these online using "Fair Use" guidelines, but I don't hold the copyright. See this excellent article: Copyright and the Old Family Photo.
- Other photos belong to somebody else, and I'm using them with permission. I've indicated these in the photo captions.
